Summertime Sadness

Hi! This week was very unfortunate for Filipinos. The monsoon rains were terrible, it caused floods all over Manila and a few other places. It was so bad that SCTEX fell apart! Anyway, I don't want to dwell on the bad and instead, focus on the brighter side of things which is what happens after the rain
(can you spot the pun?).

Despite the gloomy weather and the calamities happening all around, I know it might seem selfish to do makeup but to hell with it, Filipinos have strong spirits and this isn't the first time we've dealt with something like this so I know we'll get through it in one piece and even better.

So anyway, the rainy season made me miss summer and I felt like Lana Del Rey's (one of my idols)
Summer time Sadness fit my mood and so today's makeup is inspired by one of her vintage looks that you can see below:
More pictures of this look below!
Hahahahahahaha.

A little closer.
I hope you like it! Here's how I achieved this look:

1. Primer!
It's extremely important to use primer. I will make a post about this soon. Anyway, Collagen Moistful primer is from Etude House. I got this from my trip to Singapore last year and it's still not expired, I can't believe it! But anyway, any primer is good as long as it makes your face brighter and it really helps your makeup stay in place!
2.  Concealer and Foundation
This is from my recent cheapskate hauls. Ever Bilena is a Filipino product and as far as I know it's a pretty good drugstore product. It also smells nice! The one at the top is Light and the bottom is Medium. I mixed both of them for this look. Plus, they're only 150php each!
Revlon's PhotoReady foundation is one of the best products I've tried so far.  It gives maximum coverage and has a wide spectrum. Also, it lasts a long, long, time. I used to use this as concealer for some photoshoots as well - that's how versatile it is.

3. Contour
I use this eyeshadow from SanSan in Deep Earth Brown for contour. It's a matte brown and perfect for my skin tone. Also, it's just 50php! Despite it's super cheap price, it's a good buy from HBC. I contoured my cheeks, forehead, eyes, and jawline. Oh, also of course my nose because I have such a cute nose lol.

4. Eyebrows
For my eyebrows, I use the e.l.f. eyebrow kit in Medium. I use the cream to outline the shape of my eyebrows and the powder to shade in the rest. After that, I use the Nichido spot concealer to outline the edges and fix any mistakes.
5. Eyeshadow
This palette is from Marks and Spencer.  They shadows don't really have names but  as seen on the picture, I used this champagne colored one which I've been using a lot. I dab it on to my eyelids and near my tear ducts. I also used a little bit of it to highlight my brow bone.

6. Eyeliner
I've always been a Maybelline girl. Their products are amazing and long-lasting. Anyway, out of all my Maybelline products, my favorite is this Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner because it just stays in place all day! Also I love putting it on, it's creamy and dries quickly. First, I dip the brush on to the pot and got some product on it, wipe it on the inner rim of the pot to make the brush thinner and line my eyes corner -> middle -> corner. Then I slant my hand a little to do the wing and keep on building until I'm happy with the look. There's not one way to line your eyes, I guess the secret is to just practice.

7. False Eyelashes

The eyelashes I used are from Japan Home and for two pairs, it's only 66 pesos. The glue I normally use is now gone (sad face) but I find this glue from Nichido great as well! Tutorial on how I put on eyelashes on the link below.

8. Blush
I used one of the blushes from my Victoria's Secret Supermodel-On-The-Go makeup palettes. Yes, there's an S to the word palette because it's a collection of makeup palettes complete with 4 eyeshadows, cream eyeliner, a blush, and a lip gloss. I will make a post about how I love this creation at another time. Anyway, this is from the Off-Duty Supermodel palette and it's kind of a dark pink shade.

9. Lip cream
This lip cream is from my Clinique face palette. I forgot the name of this but it's a really good color if you want a natural look! I am also in love with this palette because it's so convenient!

10. Mascara
I put mascara on right before I set my makeup just because. This is also from the palette above! This is my favorite mascara as of the moment because it doesn't run easily.

11.  Setting Powder
Okay this is embarrassing but I only bought the tester of the Ben Nye luxury powder in Banana. I didn't really use setting powder before I stumbled upon this on the internet. It's 15 grams of pure magic! I use it everyday and my makeup lasts the whole day, no kidding. I love this purchase so much and I'm just waiting for it to run out so I can order another one!
I got this from Kikay Street, an online store in Instagram (not sponsored).

I hope you find my steps easy and try them yourself.

PS. This makeup look took only 15 minutes! :)
